Patio – Tree Room - Dining Area Believe it or not, this patio used to be the original parking lot for the Mews Tavern back in 1947. Next the room became an outside patio where customers could sit, eat and enjoy the nice weather. In order to accomodate New England weather, Dave and Danny decided to close the Patio in and their good friend Arthur's mother, Fran DeFrance was forced to cut down her beloved Beech tree at the time and she decided to donate it to the Mews rather than turn it into firewood. Today, Fran is 85, and she still visits her tree regularly, perched up in the middle of the Patio today! The Tree is lit up nightly and you may find a wide variety of inanimate objects within the branches including a raccoon, a kayak, and even a bicycle. The Patio is now the main Dining room of the Mews Tavern and every seat has a spectacular view of the tree which is decorated seasonally, and with plenty of flat screen TV's, guests can enjoy a great meal with a view of the big game! Many of the copper tables are originals that date back to 1947. and all of the booths were hand made by Dave and Danny – the owners of the Mews. Be sure to check out the Tree Room around Halloween and Christmas, for spectacular decorations! |
